Dates for 2012

London:       Easter 26 March - 30 March 2012
                   Summer 18 June - 6 July 2012
                                  9 July - 26 July 2012

Sheffield:     16 July – 3 August 2012

The firm recognises the difficulty often faced by mature candidates in reconciling a three-week placement with the commitment of full time work. There is flexibility to reduce the length of the scheme to two weeks on a case-by-case basis.


Number of Places

Each year we offer 60 places on the scheme (London and Sheffield).


Application Process

We received in excess of 950 applications for the 2012 work experience schemes. Our application process for our 2013 schemes will open on 1 November 2012 and close on 31 January 2013.

Applications are welcomed from all disciplines.  For law students, applications can be made in the penultimate year of your Law degree at the earliest.  Non-law students must be, as a minimum, in the autumn/spring term of your final year to apply. 

We read all applications and do not have an automatic sifting system.  Applications are not screened until the deadline has passed.


Selection Process

The selection process is identical for all disciplines. 

To obtain a place on the scheme you must progress through an Interview Day.  Interview days for our vacation schemes are held between February and April each year.  The day will commence at 09:00 and finish at approximately 14:30.  It will consist of:

  • Welcome from the Trainee Recruitment Partner 
  • Interview with a partner and an associate
  • Group and written assessment
  • A networking session
  • Lunch and an office tour 

The various assessments have been specifically designed to provide you with as much insight into the firm as possible and to test your:

  • organisational competence
  • technical ability
  • common sense
  • ability to perform under pressure.

Salaries

Salaries are reviewed annually and are currently:

London:   £250 per week
Sheffield: £200 per week
